- You have to attempt the paper according to your chosen portfolio(s). To eliminate confusion we are listing all the possible combinations here in order of precedence.
a. Only Design/Cartooning : 1 article + 1 artwork
b. Design/Cartooning + Any Other Portfolio : 1 article + 1 artwork
c. Only Literary (or) Literary + Videography/Management : 2 articles
d. Only Management : 2 articles
e. Only Videography (or) Videography + Management : 1 article - For those writing 2 articles, write 1 in English and 1 in Hindi (Devanagari script).
Even if you just have basic conversational skills in Hindi, try writing in Hindi.
If you are absolutely unfamiliar with Hindi, only then write both articles in English. - For those writing 1 article, write either in English or Hindi.
- You can either type the article or write on paper and upload photos.
- The word limit for an article is 250-300 words.
- For those making an artwork, you can use any medium of your choice.
- Article question must be taken from the ‘Literary’ section. The artwork question must be taken from the ‘Design/Cartooning’ section.

Literary
1. “इंजीनियरिंग उद्योग को इस बात का सामना करने की जरूरत है कि इस पेशे में कम महिलाएं क्यों प्रवेश कर रही हैं, और यह प्रदर्शित करना होगा कि वे कैसे विविध प्रतिभाओं का पोषण और रखरखाव कर रही हैं।”
उपरोक्त कथन का विश्लेषण कीजिए। इंजीनियरिंग क्षेत्र में अधिक महिलाएं क्यों नहीं हैं? आपके अनुसार मौजूदा स्थिति में सुधार के लिए क्या किया जा सकता है?
“The engineering industry needs to tackle why there are fewer women entering the profession, and demonstrate how they’re nurturing and retaining diverse talent.”
Analyze the above statement. Why aren’t there more women in the field of engineering and hence engineering colleges? What do you think could be done to improve the existing situation?

True Friendships enrich our lives and help us grow as a person. It is important to find a good company to share your thoughts, to laugh together, and to help/guide each other. What do you think are the changes a friend has brought in you? How has it affected you? (In both good and bad sense)

As the online semester has become “new normal” for the past and upcoming semesters, many students admitted to cheating on tests. What is your perspective on the “act of cheating”? As a journalist, prepare a report taking a fresh look at unethical academic behavior.
Hint: How do the students cheat on tests? How often? What does the high percentage of cheating students possibly say about the need for reform in conducting classes and evaluating students?
4. ऑनलाइन सेमेस्टर के कारण अधि कांश “केजीपी कल्चर” को पारि त नहीं कि या जा सका। अब से पांच साल बाद केजीपी की कॉलेज लाइफ कैसी दिखेगी?
Most of the “KGP Culture” could not be passed on because of the online semesters. What will college life at KGP look like 5 years from now?
Hint: Try to compare the differences between college life 20-25 years ago and now, keeping in mind that the political, social, and cultural dynamics of the society around us are changing.
Design / Cartooning
1. Remember the school days, when you had to write an essay on “If I was a superhero”? Imagine, one day you wake up with an amazing superpower of your favorite skill. How would you express that through art in the coolest context ever?
2. It’s 12 at night. You shut your laptop and head to grab something to satisfy midnight food cravings. Instead, your room door opens in the Old Architecture Department Building at IIT Kharagpur. Design a short comic depicting the time ahead. For those who don’t know, the building is believed to be haunted, and no one is allowed to visit there at night.
3. It’s a funny thing but often the front page of a newspaper is the last page to be sent to the press. Frequently it is left to the end, right before the deadline, for breaking news. The same can be said for your autobiography, memoir, or life story project. A great book cover will intrigue and interest your readers to turn the page.
Design cover art for your autobiography. Ensure the readability of the title and other texts (if any), typography, choice of illustration, and be creative with the title such that it tells the gist of your story. You can present your artwork through any medium of your choice.
